Profile

Summit Vision Microfinance Services Ltd (SVMF) is a Bank of Ghana Licensed Specialized Deposit Taking Financial Institution mandated to provide microfinance services to individuals and MSMEs in Ghana. The company has been operating from the Head Office in Kaneshie, Accra with satellite activities in some communities from Ashanti, Ahafo, Western North, Brong Ahafo, Bono East to the Northern Regions since January, 2011. With a drive to financially include women, youth and rural dwellers, 60% of the customer base of the company are women and Agriculture Sector constitute 59% of the loan portfolio of the company. Financial inclusion is a target in eight out of the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and SVMF has being leveraging on the Partnerships For the Goals (#17) to achieve some of the targets in favour of our customers. The financial inclusion of SVMF is addressing SDGs ranging from No Poverty(#1), Zero Hunger(#2), Good Health and Well-Being(#3), Gender Equality(#5), Decent Work and Economic Growth(#8), Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure(#9) to Reduced Inequalities(#10).

Aside the SDGs above, Climate Action (#13) is also of keen interest to the promoters of SVMF, because Offinso North District, Ashanti Region where the CEO hails from was once a vibrant economic hub due to revenues from cocoa production. However, cocoa cultivation, in recent years does not thrive due to the soil in the area getting drier, a phenomenon attributed to climate change. Upon the recommendation that Cashew was the suitable replacement tree crop that thrives in areas with drier soil ecology, SVMF has being granting loans to nursery operators who are producing cashew seedlings for over 10,000 small holder cashew farmers who are beneficiaries of the Mennonite Economic Development Associates (MEDA) of Canada’s Farmer Economic Advancement Through Seedlings (FEATS) in the Offinso North District and the Sunyani Metropolitan Assembly.

SVMF has been selected again as one of the Partner Financial Institutions of USAID’s Mobilizing Finance in Agriculture (MFA) Activity that seeks to create platforms for farmers and agribusinesses to have access to funds and also assist Financial Institution to expand their financing of farmers and agribusinesses.

SVMF is a Partner Financial Institution of the Ghana Commodity Exchange Limited by which 500 small holder rice farmers, mostly women, are benefiting from Input Supply, Extension, Aggregation and Market Linkage to the Ghana Commodity Exchange services.

SVMF is a Partner Financial Institution of Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa(AGRA) through which there is ongoing collaboration to assist more small holder farmers to be empowered to increase their earnings.

SVMF is also a Partner Financial Institution (PFI) under the MasterCard Foundation sponsored Savings at the Frontiers (SatF) Project being implemented by Oxford Policy Management in collaboration with Emergent Payments (formally Interpay). The accounts of these low income individuals and groups with SVMF have been linked to their dedicated mobile money wallets to allow them to deposit/invest or withdraw from their accounts and repay loans with their phones via the Maximus Digital Platform.

Additionally, SVMF has integrated Environmental, Social and Governance (ESGs) into our operations for which the company was recognized at the Vodafone SME Ghana Awards-SMEGA’18 as the winner under the Service Sector-Financial Institution category for impact in the microfinance industry, and also recently at the Maiden FINANCIAL INCLUSION ADVOCACY CENTER and GHAMFIN’s Non-Bank Financial Institution Awards Night 2022 as the Socially Responsible Institution.
